Label Profile: Mantis Recordings (UK)

Mantis was born in 1996 and since then they have always worked with artists who want to experiment, artists who write and music that’s interesting and different. Mantis Recordings’ aim is to release diverse quality music and this certainly shines through consistenly when listening through their excellent back catalogue.

The releases are dominated with Atjazz’s superior production skills (those that led him to pen the soundtrack for the now legendary Tomb Raider), taking him through the deepest tech house back to bouncey broken beats and beyond. Then of course there is the fledgling talent of Brooks, the alluring vocal talents of Kimbu Kimba and several other single contributions from Rhythm Plate, Magic Number and Miss Bombay 1974 no less. And let’s not forget the Public Nylon EPs with contributions on Vol 2 from DeepHouseNetwork’s very own Derek Hyland…! Last but not least we should also mention the enviably long list of remixers which include many of the most cutting edge players in the scene - Charles Webster, Fred Everything, Swag, Recloose, King Britt, Dhizan & Kamien, Phil Parnell, Mark Rae, Uschi Classen and Dixon – to name but a few. Also keep your eye out for forthcoming material from Phil Parnell, a jazz pianist from New Orleans and a forthcoming album from Magic Number.
